Nutrition Certification

Dani and I will be going to Robb Wolf's Nutrition Certification April 18th at CrossFit Chicago. We are very excited to learn from such an expert in nutrition and athletic performance. Check out his blog on the side of my page!!

Here's some info on him from the CrossFit main page: "Robb Wolf is a former research biochemist specializing in lipid metabolism. His CV includes research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and graduate work with Prof. Loren Cordain of Colorado State University, author of The Paleo Diet and The Paleo Diet for Athletes. Robb is a co-founder of the CrossFit NorCal (the 4th CrossFit Affiliate), a review editor for the Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism, and a co-founder of The Performance Menu."

  1. Chicago, let's meet up for a WOD or a beer afterwards. Are you going to Dutch's seminar the next day? Seriously, April 18th, let me know.

  2. For sure Pat that sounds great! I never heard about Dutch's seminar...what is that all about?

Dani and I were excited to see Robb coming so close to us...Chicago is only a 6 1/2h drive so going for the weekend won't be that bad. It's not a very expensive cert like the others and I have heard a lot of good things about it. I'd like to ask him some questions as well. Have you worked out at CrossFit Chicago? It looks like a nice box from the pictures.

  3. Sean,

I just signed up for it! I am excited about it. It is my first CF Cert. I am a science guy, my trade is anesthesia and have always (well for the past 20years) been interested in nutrition and sports performance. I saw this and thought it is close, cheap, I should go, but when you signed up, it was all I needed.

Robb's is my kind of scientist. He is grounded. I think he manages to have one foot in the lab/peer review journals and the other in a gym both training himself and others.

The next day Dutch is hosting his seminar for CF trainers. It is about the same price. This is not an official CF seminar, but it is based on his experiences as a CF athlete and his travels to various CF gyms.

I am on call Sunday, so I can not go, but it looks good. Here is the link:

I have not been to CF Chicago. One of their trainers blew me away at the TSC. He pulled 500, 23 pull-ups, 120+ KB Snatches. He is a beast. I later learned he played baseball for Notre Dame. I am meaning to check it out one of these days.

Thats awesome! I'm really looking forward to it...Dutch's seminar looks really interesting. I'm going to email him with some questions.

Dani will be really interested in your line of work. She majored in Medical Science at school.

Sounds like CF Chicago has some serious beasts. Maybe they will have a quick WOD planned after Robb's cert.

  5. Hi Pat!

Looking forward to meeting you in April. I don't go on your blog too often but that might change since we'll be coming to visit. I do see a lot of your posts on Sean's blog though. You will have to tell about Chicago and where we should visit while we are there. I'm on Dutch's website right now reading about the his seminar. Not sure if we will go to it as I want to spend Sunday checking out the town. Talk to you soon!
